Who We Are

Hartford Yarn Works is a yarn dyeing studio based in rural Hartford, Wisconsin. We believe that yarn, and the fiber arts, are a conduit to creating community.  In our studio shop, and beyond, we believe in being a Safe Space and striving to help create community in this busy, stressful world.

Our Mission Statement

Hartford Yarn Works strives to create and support community through the Fiber Arts.  This includes producing high-quality artisan hand-dyed yarns, roving and other tools, selling and supporting other dyers and small businesses, and creating space for people of all kinds to feel welcome and encouraged.

Our Dyeing Philosophy

We work in small batches on purpose. That means each run of a colorway is unique — slight variations in tone, depth, and saturation are part of what makes hand-dyed yarn special.  We believe in rich saturation and joyful use of color.  And we believe in producing products with the highest quality, whether it is our yarns, our hand-made stitch markers or any of the other products we source.

We're located at 131 N. Main Street, Hartford, WI 53027.  We host regular Open Stitch Nights — a relaxed, welcoming space to knit, crochet, chat, and connect with fellow fiber lovers.
